Accountability Counseling Services - Individuals Couples Families Teens Tweens and Groups

About Me

My practice is based on the belief that my client's needs are of the highest importance to me. I am committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a good percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals.

I welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver to you the best counseling service in the industry.

I graduated from The Evergreen State College (TESC) in Olympia, Washington with my Bachelors Degree in Psychology/Business.

I then went on to complete my Masters Degree in Behavioral Health through Bastyr University with the Leadership Institute of Seattle (LIOS) in Kenmore, Washington.

My internship was completed at Greater Lakes Mental Health Care in Lakewood, Washington.

In addition I have volunteered my time over the past three years working with Domestic Violence Shelters in the Pierce County Area and other non-profit agencies bring reliable high standards of mental health care to my client's.

I completed the courses for Mediation Certification with Thurston County.

Additional area of expertise is in building leadership skills and working with groups; devoting myself as an Organizational Trainer, Consultant, and Executive Coach.  I have worked 8 years as an AVP for Wells Fargo Bank as well as developed teams with Allstate Insurance, AAA Insurance and other large financial organizations.  I have helped many in achieving their personal and professional goals.

Beliefs in My Practice

Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy
In my practice, I meet with individuals, couples, and families.  I work in partnership with the client, sincerely listening to the client's concerns and collaborating on solutions that are available to the clients needs.  General concerns individuals bring into therapy include depression, anxiety, relationship concerns and conflicts, sexuality, work stress, addictions, parent-child conflicts, health concerns, loss, grief, life transition issues, and spiritual concerns.  My basic approach to therapy is to collaborate in introducing new ideas and solutions in response to life's
dis-ease and to support self-growth and new possibilities in the client.

Learning Approach
I believe successful therapy comes from forming a trusting relationship with the client and attuning to the client's thoughts, feelings, actions, frustrations, desires, and goals.  I work with the client on opening up to their past, present and future.  Insight and new understandings are important.  Being an open learner is critical to effective counseling.  Both the therapist and the client are co-learners with the central focus being the client's life.  My belief is that for therapy to be effective, awareness and willingness to make changes is the key to breaking old behavior patterns.  I am very active with my clients, giving feedback, suggesting specific actions and sometimes requiring homework assignments.  Fundamentally, the client is the decision maker and is the one in charge of his/her own life for making changes.

Mind, Emotions, Body, Spirit, Relationships
In therapy, attention is given to the client's thoughts, emotions, physical well being, spirit, and relationships (both past and present).  Good therapy includes many dimensions of the client's life and collaborating with other health care professionals for the client to find balance within their realm of life and the journey they are on.

The Counselor-Client Teamwork
Counseling will be effective as long as the counselor and the client(s) are working together as a team.  Thus, feedback is extremely important as the counselor gives feedback to client(s) and the client(s) gives feedback to the counselor.  This energy in working together allows for new ideas and possibilities to be brought forward.  The counseling conversation is interdependent, and compelling towards solutions and hope.

Confidentiality
Under almost all circumstances our sessions are completely confidential.  There are some circumstances however, in which I am required by law to report information about sessions.  These circumstances include: if a client is threatening bodily harm to him/herself or to someone else, or if there is suspected child or elder abuse, or abuse of the disabled.

In addition, I regularly review my work with psychotherapy consultants LSW, LMHC, LMFT and my supervisor.  If and when it is necessary to consult with my supervisor regarding my work with a client I will make every effort to protect my client's anonymity.
